The Famous Verse of Surah Rahman

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Fa bi ayyi aala’i Rabbikuma tukadhdhiban
“Then which of the favours of your Lord will you (both) deny?” – Quran 55:13

“پس تم اپنے رب کی کون کون سی نعمت کو جھٹلاؤ گے؟”

The word “you both” (kuma) addresses two kinds of creation – humans and jinn. Every time a blessing is mentioned, the listener is asked to admit it with gratitude.

Virtues of Surah Rahman – What Is Authentic?

The jinn’s beautiful response

Jabir (RA) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ recited Surah Ar-Rahman to his Companions from beginning to end and they stayed silent. He said that on the Night of the Jinn, the jinn responded better: every time he reached “Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?”, they said: “La bi shay’in min ni’amika Rabbana nukadhdhibu, falakal-hamd” – “We do not deny any of Your favours, our Lord, and to You belongs all praise.” (Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3291, graded hasan). Many Muslims therefore say this sentence when they hear ayah 13 being recited.

“The bride of the Quran” (Aroos-ul-Quran)

The saying “Everything has a bride, and the bride of the Quran is Surah Ar-Rahman” is recorded by al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Iman, but hadith scholars classify its chain as weak. It is a popular title for the surah, not a proven saying of the Prophet ﷺ.

General reward of tilawat

Like every part of the Quran, each letter recited earns a good deed multiplied ten times (Tirmidhi 2910). Surah Rahman’s rhythm and repetition also make it easy to memorise and very moving to listen to.

Benefits of Reciting Surah Rahman | سورۃ الرحمن کے فوائد

These benefits come from the meaning of the surah and from Quranic recitation in general – not from a specific promised reward:

• It builds shukr (gratitude): you count blessings you normally take for granted.
• It brings calm and hope – “Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Quran 13:28).
• It strengthens faith in the Hereafter through clear descriptions of Judgement and Jannah.
• It is easy to memorise because of its short, repeated verses – ideal for children.

Surah Rahman for healing (shifa)

The whole Quran is described as “healing and mercy for the believers” (Quran 17:82), so many people listen to Surah Rahman when they are ill or stressed. However, popular routines such as “listen to Surah Rahman three times a day for seven days to cure any disease” are not found in the Quran or authentic Sunnah.
